Yesterday, after grooming several dogs, we decided to make homemade burgers for dinner. My sister, who often joins us on Saturdays, was coming over for dinner.

We prepared smaller burgers for the girls and hearty, larger ones for the adults. Then, we smoked them to perfection, enhancing their flavor even more!

While the burgers were on the smoker, my husband decided to whip up a pasta salad to accompany them. He threw it together on a whim, and it turned out delicious! He cooked elbow pasta and mixed in chopped red pepper, red onion, and celery, then tossed it all with some mayo, seasoning salt, Mrs. dash and smoked paprika.

We added a splash of liquid smoke to the burgers for an extra smoky flavor. Leftover shredded cheese from last week’s dinner was mixed in to add richness, which we also mixed in with the burgers. And since we love spice, we also folded in some chopped jalapenos for a fiery kick.
After smoking the burgers for about 1 ½ hours at 210 degrees, we finished them off with a quick sear on the BBQ grill.
